Nightclub books top 10 finalists from hit show
THEY may have been kicked off “The X Factor” but Jedward fans can get their fix when the gruesome twosome come to Oldham.
Terrible teen twins John and Edward Grimes will take to the stage at Tokyo Project on January 16, 2010, as part of an exclusive deal which will see all the show’s finalists visit the Roscoe Street club.
The ITV show’s first evictees Kandy Rain will be the first to sing at Tokyo’s on December 5 followed by feisty girl group Miss Frank the week after and Welsh warbler Lucie Jones on December 19.
Wild-haired Jamie Archer comes to town on January 9, next year, followed by Jedward the week after.
Remaining finalists Stacey Solomon, Olly Murs, Danyl Johnson, Joe McElderry and Lloyd Daniels will sing on Saturdays from January 23 to February 20. Of the dozen finalists, only Rachel Adedeji and Rikki Loney will not be appearing.
Chronicle readers can win VIP entry to each of the gigs as well as meeting the stars for autographs and pictures. Competition details will follow next week.
The acts will perform on stage in the main room upstairs before mingling with revellers while DJs play all the best 1980s and ’90s tunes.
Downstairs will be indie and rock with former Inspiral Carpet DJ Gilly and the third room will play R’n’B.
As a special treat to Oldhamers, club bosses will only charge £4 to anyone turning up before midnight with a promotional flyer, £5 before 1am with a flyer and £6 after that.
Business development manager Nigel Holliday said: “The low prices are our Christmas gift to Oldham. We know that it’s been a very tough year with the recession so we wanted to give a little something back to get 2010 off to a brilliant start.”
