The science behind how a wax candle becomes a bright lasting light was explained to pupils at Farrowdale House Preparatory School in Shaw during their science week.
Science workshops have been held over the past five days at the Farrow Street school, and parents have talked to children about their professions which include forensic science and medicine.
Mick Rolley, from the Shell Education Service, was happy to hold a science workshop for the whole school.
