Grieving mum in plea over lost phone
Date published: 26 November 2009
DISTRAUGHT mum Debbie Dwyer is desperate to find a lost mobile telephone containing pictures of her baby girl who died when she was just one day old.
The 29-year-old left the black Nokia 6210 in the downstairs toilets at McDonalds in Yorkshire Street, Oldham.
She realised her mistake before she reached the outside door, but when she ran back in she discovered the telephone had gone.
Debbie, who lives in Royton, said: “I took my children to the toilet and when I bent down the phone fell out of my pocket.
“I put it on the toilet roll holder and forgot to put it back in my pocket. When I found it had gone I asked if anyone had handed it in, but they hadn’t.”
Debbie’s baby, Summer, died on October 31, the day after she was born at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
“I had pictures of her in my arms, and cradled in blankets on the bed. They were my special pictures, my own personal memories of Summer,” said her devastated mother.
Debbie, who has four other children, James (11), Bethany (eight), Leah (four) and Kayleigh (two), said: “I’m not bothered about the phone. Whoever has it can keep it, but I desperately want my pictures back.
“They may be on the sim card, so I am asking whoever has it to please let me have it.”
Debbie, who works as a care assistant at Dryclough Manor Care Home, Royton, tried to ring the mobile phone after she lost it on Wednesday last week, but whoever had it kept cutting off the call.
Now when she rings it is turned off.
