Tram work is on track

CONTRACTORS are hard at work at Shaw station on the multi-million-pound project to convert the Oldham loopline to a Metrolink service.
The switch from trains to trams will take two years to complete. Trams should be running from Manchester Victoria to a redeveloped Mumps station by autumn 2011, and into Rochdale the following spring.
A feasibility study into taking the new line along King Street and Union Street is still being worked on. The Oldham loop, which dates back to 1847, closed on October 3.
