Children from Royton Hall Primary School give the final go-ahead on demolition
PUPILS at Royton Hall Primary School celebrated the start of the final phase of the demolition of their old school — Highbarn Junior — with a salvo from air horns.
Children had to guess how many bricks it took to build the new school, and the pupil who came nearest from each of the eight classes was selected for the horn ceremony.
According to clerk of works Steve Buckley, 59,854 bricks were used, and remarkably Dominic McAughey was only two out.
Along with Dominic, the other pupils taking part were Kayleigh Escala-Shaw, Michael Batty, Aaron Mills, George Roberts, Tyisha Duncan, Eleanor Cooke and Caitlin Hendrix.
