Cold snap brings snowfall

A sprinkling of snow on Pots and Pans, Saddleworth on Saturday
THE first snows of winter threw a cloak of white over the hills of Saddleworth on Saturday morning.
Temperatures on the hills hit minus one, as 4cm of snow fell at Pots and Pans, Greenfield, and the surrounding moors.
It was the first snow Britain has seen this winter, apart from the tops of the Scottish mountains. Friday night’s rain system which dragged in cold northern air, turning it into snow, weather experts said. Temperatures are expected to rise by the weekend.
