Latics plans reach next stage

Plans for 30 new homes on the former Clayton Arms site at Boundary Park could be given the go-ahead tonight.
It is the first phase of a scaled-down housing scheme which replaces Oldham Athletic’s original proposals, approved in 2008.
Last year, the club was given permission for 553 apartments and 140 keyworker units, alongside plans for new stands, a hotel and fitness club.
The struggling League One side now plans three and four-bedroom houses, to be built in a joint venture with Chadderton-based Holroy Developments, off Furtherwood Road.
It hopes to build a new 12,000 seater stadium in Failsworth instead. The new scheme would partly cover the site of the proposed hotel, meaning that could no longer be built.
The report adds: “The current proposal could be implemented regardless of whether the football club remains at Boundary Park.”
Meanwhile, Latics fans can share their views on plans for the new stadium in Failsworth at a public meeting next Wednesday.
The club will host talks at The Radclyffe School in Hunt Lane, Chadderton, at 7pm to canvass supporters’ opinion.
A club spokesman said: “It is important to hold these consultation meetings to get as much input from fans and residents as possible. It is an opportunity for people to have an influence on this development so that it can make a positive contribution to the community and the wider borough of Oldham.
“We realise that this consultation meeting is only eight days away but we would like to see as many fans as possible attend so that we can hear their opinions and of course they will have a chance to ask questions about the proposed development.”
Admission to the consultation event next Wednesday is free.
