It’s dearer to drive in Oldham

OLDHAM has the highest car insurance premiums in the country, according to a poll.
Research from City Car Club revealed that motorists in the borough fork out an average of £392.28 a year — well ahead of second-placed Bradford at £371.07.
It’s also much higher than big cities such as Liverpool, third with £324.63, sixth-placed Manchester with £280.16 and seventh-placed London with £273.23.
Statistics showed that motorists have seen their car insurance premiums rocket by 14 per cent this year — the highest rate increase on record.
The main reason was down to uninsured motorists.
The premiums were counted in each case for a 40-year-old man with fully-comprehensive insurance, driving 4,000 miles a year in a Ford Fiesta 07 plate worth £5,000 with five years’ no claims and taken from the cheapest insurer.
