New owl gets a feathered friend

WHAT a hoot . . . the parrot and the owl
A LEES landmark has been given a touch of the exotic thanks to the addition of a colourful parrot.
The Fox and Owl sculpture at Leesbrook Nature Park was wrecked last month when vandals used heavy duty cutting equipment to remove the owl.
A replacement has since been installed thanks to a mystery visitor. Now there’s a fluffy parrot too.
The sculpture was unveiled in April, 1995, as part of a major overhaul of Bank Top Park.
A £135,000 Government grant funded a major revamp to transform the area into an attractive public facility around the River Medlock.
Anyone with information on the theft of the original owl is asked to call the council’s parks team in confidence on 0161-770 4642.
