Come on down to the new £17m super centre

Date published: 04 December 2009

The new £17 million Chadderton Well-being Centre is celebrating its first week of business by hosting an Open Weekend for residents.

The free event — which started today — runs until Sunday between 10am and 4pm each day. Visitors can look around the new state-of-the-art facility at Burnley Street and see the new 25-metre Henry Taylor swimming pool, dance studio, café, community rooms, fitness suite and library for themselves.

Guided tours of the building will be available, plus a wide range of family activities including: a climbing wall; health checks; talks from award-winning author Cath Staincliffe plus children’s entertainment from Rock Puppets.

Oldham Community Leisure’s sales team will also be on hand with information about special deals on offer to people signing up for gym membership before December 14.

Each visitor’s name will be entered into a free raffle with prizes that include a Christmas hamper and a family pantomime ticket.

Councillor John McCann, cabinet member for community services and housing, said: “I would urge any residents — whether you are looking to enjoy a leisurely swim, want to get fit, read a book, study, or simply enjoy a relaxing drink in the café to come along and see the new centre for yourselves.”
