Talks fail to save car jobs

TALKS to save Lythgoe Motors Ltd and 21 jobs at its Oldham site broke down on Friday.
More than 40 jobs have now gone following the announcement by administrators Zolfo Cooper that talks to sell the Oldham and Rochdale site had failed.
A total of 21 staff at Oldham and 23 at Rochdale were made redundant with immediate effect.
The Greater Manchester car dealership, which was sold by its former family owners to its management in 2008, traded from sites in Oldham, Rochdale and two in Bolton, with an after-sales base for parts and servicing in Salford.
The Salford site closed early last week with the loss of 31 jobs, and one of the Bolton sites was sold before the administrators were appointed.
Kevin Coates, of Zolfo Cooper said: “We would like to thank the Company’s dedicated employees who have been supportive and committed to the business throughout the process.”
