A MAN was threatened with a machete and a kitchen knife in Failsworth.

The 22-year-old was hit on the back of the head by two armed men in an alleyway on Partington Street in the middle of the afternoon.

They then threatened him with the weapons before stealing his money and his mobile phone. But he managed to escape while the pair who were both in their late 20s argued about whether to hurt him.

The attack happened at around 3pm on November 24. The first man was of mixed race, around 6ft tall, slim with a mole on his left cheek. He wore a black tracksuit and black Reebok trainers. His accomplice was white, around 5ft10in tall, slim with a short moustache and stubble. He wore a blue Berghaus coat with a yellow stripe under the arms.

PC Vicky Wray said: “This man was put through a terrifying ordeal but luckily managed to escape. We are determined to catch these men and put them behind bars.”
