A MAN had two teeth knocked out in a brutal attack in Chadderton.

It is also feared that the 53-year-old suffered a ruptured spleen when two thugs stamped and punched him.

The vicious assault happened at around 3am on Saturday as the victim walked down Broadway close to the Ancora restaurant.

He was left with a fractured finger and extensive bruising and swelling.

Det-Con Colette Kelleher is appealing for help to catch the men and said: “This appears to be a motiveless attack as the victim was not robbed but was savagely assaulted.

“Thankfully, incidents like this are rare and we are working very closely with our partner organisations to make sure our town centres are a safe place to work and visit. Incidents like this unfortunately send out the wrong message and that is why it is so important we find this man’s attackers.

“I would appeal to anyone who has information or any witnesses to come forward.

“I would also ask any parents or girlfriends who may have washed bloodstained clothing over the weekend to search their conscience and if you do have any suspicions, please do come forward and speak to us, in confidence if needed.”

The attackers were white and aged about 20 to 22. One had dark hair and sideburns and was wearing a checked shirt.

Anyone with with information should call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8951 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
