AN OLDHAM woman has been recognised by Home Secretary Alan Johnson for her hard work tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.
Christine Dennis, from Chadderton, was invited to the Commons on Monday as part of the Community Crime Fighter programme.
Neighbourhood Crime and Justice co-ordinators across England and Wales were asked to nominate local crime fighters who had made a real impact in their communities.
Mrs Dennis was nominated for her work with the neighbourhood police team in Chadderton as well as putting her crime fighter training to good use in the community.
Her nomination read: “She organises community events which encourage people in the area to come together to find solutions to local problems.
“She works long hours in the service of her community and has a strong belief in the ability of a community to support its members.”
The Community Crime Fighter Programme is a training and support scheme for members of the public who are already active in their community and who want to know more about what they can do to help tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
More than 3,900 community crime fighters have been recruited and trained as part of the Justice Seen Justice Done campaign, launched in June, 2008.
