Security trio are the best in the North-West

SECURITY staff at Oldham Magistrates’ Court are the best in the North-West, according to a national company which operates court security systems.

Supervisor Malcolm Kay, and security staff Kenneth Turner and Linda Williams, have been commended by Mitie Security Ltd for the way they manage the town centre court building.

They are the best team out of 74 courts and three tribunals covered by Mitie.

Their role involves searching everyone who arrives at court, and making sure they pass through a scanner arch, as well checking and responding to alarms in all the court areas.

Malcolm, who has worked at the court for eight years, said: “We have to respond on many occasions.

“You get people who have an attitude problem who don’t like the court decision and go off on one.”

Malcolm has also earned a Mitie customer services award, after helpful advice to strangers arriving at the court was mentioned to the magistrates.

The team has also been entered in the Best Team category in the annual British Security Industry Association awards.
