A WOMAN has died after her car ploughed into a wall on a sharp bend in Lees.
The 40-year-old lost control of her red Ford Focus shortly before midnight on Friday at the junction of High Street and Hartshead Street, which leads into Rhodes Hill.
She was taken to hospital with serious internal injuries and died on Saturday.
No one else was in the car and no other vehicle was involved.
The smash demolished a stone wall opposite the Red Lion pub. Flowers have been left at the spot.
A witness who saw the aftermath said: “There was just people running around. It was chaos. Someone was trying to help a person out of the car and there were several teenagers around.”
