Salute to council’s star performers
Date published: 16 December 2009
OLDHAM Council’s top employees were treated like stars at a special ceremony.
STAR (Special Thanks And Recognition) awards were handed out to show hard working staff that their efforts have not gone unnoticed.
Categories included employee of the year, community hero, unsung hero, manager of the year and team of the year.
More than 300 people attended the annual celebration at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Deputy council leader Jackie Stanton described it as an excellent event and added: “It has been a tough year with lots of challenges.
“It is easy to lose sight of the fact that the council has a very dedicated work force that have done so much to enable us to achieve everything that we have done so far.
“These awards demonstrate our commitment to staff and recognise and reward their hard work and innovation in delivering services to our citizens.”
