Jogger-attack trial set for next July

A man has appeared in court charged with an attack on a jogger in Saddleworth.
Eugene Connell (24), of Brighton Road, Austerlands, pleaded not guilty to affray and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, when he appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, yesterday.
A 49-year-old jogger was attacked as he ran down Thurston Clough Road, Scouthead, shortly after 10am on August 22.
The victim suffered severe injuries to his leg and was rushed to the Royal Oldham Hospital for emergency surgery.
Connell will stand trial in July, next year.
