Mystery man on the buses — do you know him?

Who is the bus conductor on the right?
TRANSPORT enthusiast John Holmes has appealed for help in identifying a former colleague who worked with him on the buses.
John (70) has a wealth of archive material on Oldham’s bus services, and now works as a volunteer for the British Transport Museum.
Browsing though his material, he unearthed an old photograph of two former colleagues, but can’t remember the name of the man on the right.
“I am in regular contact with most of the people still living who worked on the buses at the same time, but no-one can recall his name,” said John, who lives in Warwick Close, High Crompton, and is married to Marian.
“He worked on what we called ‘old man’s road’, which was driving single deckers around Mossley and Shaw, and generally offered to people who were getting towards retirement.”
John said: “The photograph was taken in 1965, it was a new bus, and going into Shore Edge.
“I took the picture at the old terminus on Buckstones Road before the Black Ladd. There’s a bungalow on it now.”
He added: “The driver, on the left, is Tommy Monks, but no-one seems to remember the name of the conductor.
“I worked on the buses all my life, and I was the unofficial photographer for Oldham, which is how I came to start archiving old photographs.”
John, who has a daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, said: “It’s puzzled me, and I would love to hear from anyone who can tell me his name.”
Anyone who can help should contact John on 01706-846562.
