10 charged after major drugs raid

TEN people have been charged with more than 50 offences following last week’s drugs bust.
A 14th person was arrested following the raids across Oldham which saw 100 police officers smash their way into 12 houses in the early hours of Thursday.
Shabaz Riaz (30), of Byland Avenue, Oldham, was charged with nine counts of supplying heroin, one of supplying crack cocaine, one of possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and one of possession of cannabis. He appeared at Oldham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Jennifer Deveney (28), of Second Avenue, Limeside, was charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of heroin and one count of intent to supply.
Tobias Hayes (24), of Fern Street, Werneth, was charged with four counts of supplying heroin.
Elizabeth Fleming (55), of Knowl Street, Hollinwood, was charged with three counts of supplying heroin and one of supplying cocaine.
David Fleming (45), of Knowl Street, Hollinwood, was charged with two counts of supplying heroin.
Raymond Russell (52), of Spring Street, Greenacres, was charged with five counts of supplying heroin and one count of being concerned in the supply.
Shaun Watton (39), of Spring Street, Greenacres, was charged with two counts of supplying heroin and one of offering to supply.
Cheryl Barnes (30), of Waveney Road, Shaw, was charged with 10 counts of supplying heroin and one of possession of Class B drugs.
Paul Taylor (29), of Kimberley Street, Hathershaw, was charged with one count of the cultivation of cannabis and one of possession of cannabis.
Kevin Davies (29), of Lilac Lane, Limeside, was charged with six counts of supplying of heroin and two of supplying cocaine.
One person was cautioned for possessing a Class B drug, while three others were bailed.
Police recovered a large quantity of amphetamines, crack cocaine, cannabis and heroin, along with £2,300 cash, and seized seven vehicles.
Officers say the action will have a knock-on effect in reducing crimes such as robbery and burglary.
Operation Font will continue into the New Year with more raids possible.
