AN Oldham fire-fighter was one of 20 uniformed officers honoured for their long service.
Michael Carr (50), from Royton, was awarded the Fire Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medal at a special ceremony.
The Queen awards the medal to those members of the brigade who have completed 20 years’ exemplary fire service.
Mr Carr (left) began his career in September, 1989, and after completing his initial recruits course was posted to Ashton-under-Lyne fire station.
He was transferred to Hollins fire station in December, 1994, where he worked until a further transfer to Oldham fire station in May last year.
The medals were presented by Warren Smith JP, Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, in the presence of County Fire Officer Steve McGuirk (pictured with Mr Carr), and Councillor James Pearson, chairman of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority.
