ENTERPRISING pupils from Royton and Crompton Specialist Science College turned studies into profit.
The Year 10 youngsters harnessed lessons learned in creative thinking, team working, market research, preparation of business plans and producing goods and services to sell at a profit.
And they used them to run a traditional Christmas fair at the school, in aid of charity.
The students used the business skills learned in careers lessons to help them in their venture, which saw everything from home-made cakes, sweets and savouries on offer, to games of chance and skill, a general knowledge quiz, and even a donkey derby.
And they managed to secure a donation of bread from Warburtons bakery, in Shaw, to make toast for hungry visitors.
The fair raised more than £1,800.
All proceeds will go to SADS UK (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome) and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), in memory of Ashley Livesey, a former pupil of the school, who died from SADS.
