Young people in Limeside will soon be enjoying new sports facilities following a milestone £40,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).
Limeside Friends of the Park have been awarded £40,000 to create a multi-purpose sports area offering basketball, tennis and football facilities in Limeside Park.
Fifteen community projects across the UK are sharing a funding package to mark the 15th anniversary of the National Lottery.
The money goes to support imaginative schemes that will enhance local facilities and help people enjoy their local area more.
In the past 15 years, BIG and its predecessor bodies have made over 7,000 awards totalling more than £783million across the North-West. Sarah Furbey, the group’s secretary said: “We are so excited to be receiving this funding.
“The money will enable us to begin the improvements to Limeside Park that it desperately needs, making it a place that everyone in the community can use and enjoy.
“It will also mean that the older children in our community will have the place to play that they wanted, keeping them occupied and helping them to stay fit and healthy.”
Helen Bullough from BIG said: “It is a perfect example of how Lottery money has been making a huge difference to communities.”
