Taste of the Orient at Dr Kershaw’s
Date published: 04 January 2010
DR KERSHAW’S Hospice is hosting a Chinese Day to drum up support for its fundraising Great Wall of China trek.
The event, on Saturday, will offer a New Year glimpse into all things Chinese — from arts and crafts workshops and language games, courtesy of the Confucius Institute at the University of Manchester, to a Far Eastern-style buffet.
Running from 10am until 3pm, the cost is £10 for the day, and visitors will also get the chance to see a Chinese film with English subtitles and a documentary about the country.
The money raised will help towards the sponsorship targets of the Great Wall of China trek participants, who have each pledged to raise £2,900 for the hospice.
Tickets available from the hospice reception on (0161) 624 9984, or send a cheque payable to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, with a note clearly stating it is for China Day tickets and with contact details, to Appeals Office, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, Turf Lane, Royton, Oldham, OL2 6EU.
There are still some places left on the Great Wall of China trek. For information, or to register before the February deadline, contact Allegra Holbrook on (0161) 624 9984.
