RESIDENTS turned screen stars and movie makers for a film to highlight the good things going on in Sholver.
The film was the product of the Love Sholver arts programme, which directed the spotlight on a year of activities, interests and pastimes by locals.
Shown at Sholver Youth Centre, the people behind the film were residents who worked with film company REELmcr to make the recording.
They not only appeared on screen, but also gained a real insight into the industry, learning new skills around filming, editing, sound recording and presenting.
One resident, Jodie Woodall, said: “We did a lot of filming around Sholver over the summer and found plenty of good things going on.
“I learned lots of new skills, like sound and interviewing, and especially camera work. It’s given me a whole new direction and I’ve really got a lot out of it.”
Cameras rolled for many events, including the Love Sholver festival which last year brought hundreds of local people together to celebrate all that is good in the area.
Staff from First Choice Homes Oldham also played a big part in the project, and those at Swift Court homeless hostel encouraged clients to get involved and make their voices heard through the film.
The project was organised through Participate, the arts programme of the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder, which is working through the Alt and Sholver Partnership to transform the choice and quality of housing on offer in the neighbourhoods.
