Extra homes
Date published: 06 January 2010
A new supported housing scheme for people with multiple and complex needs is being opened in Oldham.
Rockcliffe Villa in Haworth Street, Cold-hurst, was an empty, three-storey detached Victorian villa, formerly used as six flats.
Now it has been extended to provide four more flats and a staff office and training room, for people who were homeless, or occupying hospital beds because they had no homes to go to.
The home provides intensively managed, 24-hour care to prepare people for employment and for different homes with less support, to reintegrate them into the community.
The home has been jointly commissioned by Oldham Council and NHS Oldham.
It will be run by Creative Support Ltd which provides social care services for people with learning disabilities, mental health and other needs.
