Chance to explore with Oldham firm

A NEW Oldham travel companyis offering people adventure and sports tours to Bangladesh.

Xperime Adventures, based at Middleton Road, Chadderton, is an adventure tourism provider, set up to meet a demand from people who wanted to explore the Royal Bengal.

Usually, British Bangladeshis visiting their homeland tend to visit relatives and stay within their own villages or towns. They don’t often get the opportunity to see other parts of the beautiful country.

Xperime hopes to change this by offering one to two-week tours providing an opportunity ‘to experience Bangladesh as they’ve never seen it before’.

The first tour takes place in April 2010, a 300-mile bike ride which starts in the tea-growing capital of Sylhet and visits Cox’s Bazar, the longest stretch of unbroken beach in the world.

Other trips include a tour of Sylhet, a fishing expedition and an eco-tour of the Sundarban’s and Cox’s By 2011 the company plans to be taking keen cricket fans to Bangladesh to watch the cricket World Cup as eight of the matches will be played in the country following the opening ceremony in Dhaka.

The founder of Xperime is Muj Khan. He said: “I’ve been organising cultural trips to Bangladesh since 1996 and they have always been popular, with many people wanting to return. A lot of those who have participated have commented on how enriched they feel.

“These trips give younger people, especially, a chance to see the country in all its delight.

“We have been working alongside tour operators in Bangladesh to organise packages that will appeal to everyone.

“Bangladesh is beginning to see a rise in tourism and I believe over the next few years this industry is going to be huge.

“I am very excited about the potential and the interest in our tours has been huge. We’ve not only had British Bangladeshis inquiring about them but many non-Bangladeshis are also keen.”

Though the majority of the tours are to Bangladesh, Muj hopes to expand his itinerary to other countries.

He is already planning a trip to Saudi Arabia. The Makkah2Madina Challenge will involve people scaling the peaks of Mount Noor, Mount Thawr and Mount Rahma as well as performing Umrah and raising money for charity.
