Date published: 11 January 2010
A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after a snooker ball was thrown through a car window leaving a five-year-old boy with head injuries in Oldham town centre.
The boy was sat in the back of the car, which was parked near the post office in Lord Street, when the ball was thrown at 4.30pm on October 13.
The ball smashed the window and hit the boy on the head causing swelling and a cut.
Several people stopped to help the victim and his family and police are now appealing to a man who also gave an account to police to come forward.
David Richard Green (22) of Hardman Street, Chadderton, has been charged with wounding and is due before Minshull Street Crown Court on February 16.
Det Cons Sarah Bull, from Oldham CID, said: “Not only did this man help the family and the young boy, but he also gave some brief details to the response officers and we would really like to hear from him as he could have vital information that will help us with our inquiries.
“We believe he may be a regular at this post office so please, if you think you are the man we are looking for, please call us.”
