THE big freeze may have been a nightmare for motorists and businesses but it has created scenes of true natural beauty across the borough.
These breathtaking icicles were captured at the home of Mirella Natale in Ripponden Road, Denshaw, by photographer and Evening Chronicle reader Malcolm Journeaux.
Fountain of bird life
THE water fountains in Alexandra Park are also proving popular with birds — this is the only part of the boating lake that remains ice-free.
Chronicle photographer Anthony Miller snapped these stunning pictures of the birds in the big freeze.
