Damaged centre stays open

IT’S business as usual at the Honeywell Centre despite chunks of the roof and a wall falling to the ground.
Staff noticed the problem on Christmas Eve and fencing was put up around the Ashton Road building to protect members of the public.
The cause of the problem has not yet been determined as contractors have to wait until the weather improves before they can get up there to inspect the damage.
Gordon Roscoe, chief executive of New Deal for Communities, which runs the centre, said: “The weather is hampering our investigation but we are managing to keep the centre open.
“Some of the activities have had to be moved round and some groups have cancelled sessions because of the weather but we are coping. We think the brickwork is falling down due to the weight of snow in the gutters.”
