Tractors help to clear waste backlog

Tractors are helping to clear household refuse from hard-hit areas. Due to a build up of snow and ice some roads have been left inaccessible to the council’s fleet of waste trucks.
OLDHAM Council is using tractors (pictured) to help clear the backlog of waste in Saddleworth and Royton in the wake of the severe weather.
Some roads were inaccessible to the council’s fleet of waste trucks but staff and vehicles from the parks department have been seconded to help in the big clear-up.
Household waste and recycling centres at Arkwright Street in Chadderton and Beal Hey, Shaw, remain open every day between 8am and 6pm.
Collection points to dispose of accumulated bags of waste have been set up at: Denshaw Community Centre, Huddersfield Road;The junction of The Sound, Delph; Woolpack, Dobcross; Sam Road, Diggle; The Museum car park, Uppermill; Manchester Road, Greenfield (opposite the Clarence Hotel); Royton Precinct car park (skip near the toilet block).
