Jedward go down a storm

LOVE them or hate them, there’s certainly no denying the rise of Jedward.

From their very first “X Factor” audition it became clear they would become the Marmite of the pop world.

Well I’ve always loved Marmite and after Saturday’s performance I can honestly call myself a huge Jedward fan.

The Irish twins quickly became the talk of last year’s contest as they delighted and disgusted viewers and judges in equal measures.

But the massive queue outside Tokyo’s on Saturday suggests they’ve certainly got pulling power.

Drinks were served in plastic glasses as a precautionary measure but the good-natured crowd lapped up every second of Jedward’s five-song set.

The twins — John and Edward Grimes — brought a huge security team with them but it didn’t ruin the atmosphere as Jedward Mania swept through the Roscoe Street club.

Wearing matching black suits and with their trademark quiffs in place, the 18-year-olds bounced around the stage clearly relishing every minute of their new-found fame.

Female revellers screamed themselves hoarse while the blokes — who had tried their best to convince themselves they wouldn’t enjoy it — soon let their guard down and sang along.

From “Ghostbusters” to “Ice Ice Baby”, the boys revisited all their finest moments from the ITV show ending on a high with their infamous version of Britney’s “Oops I Did It Again”.

Jedward are the third “X Factor” act to perform at Tokyo’s after Lucie Jones and wild-haired Jamie Archer.

Lloyd Daniels, Danyl Johnson and Stacey Solomon will follow over the coming weeks.

It is still to be decided whether winner Joe McElderry and runner up Olly Murs will perform.
