What you say shapes the future

A questionnaire which will be used as a blueprint for the future of Lees is being distributed to 2,300 households.
The 39-point document, the basis for a District Plan, has evolved from discussions with the District Partnership and local volunteers.
The District Plan will be used to guide decisions concerning important issues such as health, education and housing at local and borough level.
And Councillor Barbara Beeley, community champion for Saddleworth and Lees, is urging locals to complete and return the questionnaire.
She said: “We are keen to know the views of as many people in Lees as possible on a wide range of topics.
“Our initial discussions have been identifying issues we believe matter to the community and this document is a result of their deliberations.
“The information will be used to write the Lees element of the Saddleworth and Lees District Plan. This key document will be the basis on which future recommendations and decisions concerning important subjects will be based.
A wide range of subjects are covered including health, housing, roads traffic transport and parking.
On planning residents are asked for comments on the amount of new housing development and whether more terrace houses should be built rather than flats.
On parking, the document asks if time should be limited on street parking in the district centre. Travellers can comment on the frequency of buses or if more late-night services are needed.
It also seeks opinions on local schools and jobs.
Residents who have not received a copy by Monday, February 1, should contact Saddleworth Parish Council: 01457 876665. The same number can be used for help to complete the document or by e-mailing: tony@saddleworthparishcouncil.org.uk
Completed questionnaires should be returned by Monday, February 22 to: Lees Post Office, Lees Library, Medlock Way News, Medlock Way or Kath’s Corner, Turner Street.
