ROBBERS who stole money from an Oldham amusement arcade may have fled the scene by taxi.

The masked trio threatened a female member of staff with a hammer before taking cash from the office at Winners in Henshaw Street at 7.40pm on Wednesday, December 30.

The trio fled on foot towards the Snipe pub and it is now thought they got into two Hackney Carriages at the Fountain Street taxi rank.

All three are under 5ft 8in tall and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Det-Con Samantha Warrener, of Oldham CID, said: “I have no doubt the taxi-drivers will have had absolutely no idea what their passengers had just done but I am now appealing to them to help me put these bandits behind bars.

“They are responsible for an armed robbery where the threat of excessive violence was used on a woman, so if you were working in the area the day before New Year’s Eve please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8951 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
