Supermarket sweep set to hit burglars
Date published: 22 January 2010
THE public are being urged to shop a burglar when they visit their local supermarket this weekend.
Police and community support officers will be at eight stores across Oldham on Saturday and Sunday to appeal for information on suspects.
Chief Inspector Rob Tinsley said: “Burglars continue to be our number one target for 2010.
“We are calling on the public to help us in this fight by providing us with information that can help us bring criminals to justice.
“Information on the activities, residences, movements and associates of criminals is a precious commodity in our fight to catch those committing crime and bring them to justice. There are many people out there holding this information that could mean the difference between us putting a burglar behind bars or leaving them free to continue to target our communities and hurt innocent people.
“We are asking them to share that information with us, directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers, and help us to bang up burglars and make our communities safer.”
Supermarkets taking part are Tesco, Huddersfield Road, Oldham; Netto, Hollinwood; Tesco, Failsworth; Morrisons, Failsworth; Asda, Shaw; Sainsburys, Oldham; Asda, Chadderton and Morrisons, Chadderton.
