AN Oldham kitchen firm has been hit with a £4,000 fine for displaying illegal advertising trailers.
Kitchens With Style, based in Fields New Road in Chadderton, was also ordered to pay £765 costs at Oldham Magistrates’ Court earlier this week after Oldham Council took action having received complaints from residents.
The fine consists of £2,000 for the continuing offence of placing a trailer in Ascroft Street near the Sportsmans Pub off Broadway — for which the company had previously been fined — and £1,000 each for two other trailers located in Drury Lane, at the junction with Manchester Road, and on council land in Grimshaw Lane.
The trailer at Grimshaw Lane was removed by the council and crushed in September.
Councillor Mark Alcock, cabinet member for environment and infrastructure, said: “The council has received many complaints from local people about these advertising trailers.
“All legitimate advertising hoardings have the correct planning permission and are sited safely. Illegal hoardings such as these are not only unsightly but have the potential to be a hazard to road users by blocking site lines at junctions or access to roads. We will be looking at further action against the company in relation to the two advertising trailers that remain on Ascroft Street and Drury Lane.”
