ROBBERS helped themselves to drinks, crisps and cakes from a Royton sandwich shop after taking money from the till.

Owner Louise Benton arrived at Butties in Edge Lane Street to find the security shutters jacked up and the front door forced open.

The thieves had stolen £80 from the till along with bags of crisps, home made flapjacks and bottles of Lucozade.

The cheeky robbers had even left half eaten bars of chocolate and cakes on the shop counter.

Louise (43) has owned the shop for two years and this is the first time she has been burgled. She said: “I was so shocked when I saw what they had done.

“They caused around £1,000 worth of damage and they even cut the phone line. When the police came they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Officers managed to get fingerprints from a flap jack packet so hopefully it will help catch whoever is responsible.

“I was really angry at first and I still am but I have to see the funny side. There is no point getting myself down over it and I refuse to be scared away from coming to work.”
