A MAN who stabbed a 16-year-old boy in the neck and chest has been jailed for two years and three months.

Kamran Akram (27), of Kingsway, Rochdale, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

On the evening of January 6 2009, Akram called at the youth’s workplace in Oldham Road, Rochdale, in his car.

The youth got in and Akram drove a short distance before pulling over on a back street.

He then pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and neck.

The youth tried to defend himself by grabbing the knife but ended up severely cutting his hands.

He managed to get out of the car and ran to his sister’s house, where he was taken to hospital.

The victim had four stitches to his chest and 10 to his neck, and had to undergo surgery for tendon and nerve damage to his hand.

Hours later, Akram was arrested and a knife was recovered from a local canal a short distance away from his house.

Det Cons Matthew Cassidy from Rochdale CID said: “Akram could easily have killed the victim in this attack and clearly had no regard for his life.”
