A RESTAURATEUR believed to own an address in Oldham has been charged with bigamy and an immigration offence.
Faz Lur Rahman (42) is suspected of being married to two women at the same time and was arrested at Manchester Airport on Thursday night.
The arrest was carried out by officers from Greater Manchester Police on behalf of Cumbria Constabulary Immigration Crime Team.
He was taken to Workington Police Station where he was interviewed and charged with an immigration offence and bigamy.
Rahman appeared at West Allerdale Magistrates Court, in Workington, on Saturday where he was remanded in custody to reappear tomorrow.
He owns a restaurant in Cumbria and a number of properties. It is understood he has family in Oldham.
The address he gave to court was Gower Street, Rochdale, but the Chronicle understands he has another property in Oldham and that one of his alleged wives lives in Oldham.
