Girl guides try out the snow globe at their polar-themed weekend camp
Centenary event has Polar theme
The snow may have melted from Oldham’s streets, but local girl guides still managed to have their own Polar experience.
More than 100 girl guides, senior section members and their leaders took part in a Polar-themed overnight outdoor camp in Disley, Stockport.
The adventure included 16 guides from Hope Methodist Church in Failsworth and launched an action-packed centenary year for the movement.
The Polar adventurers set up camp, enjoyed activities including crazy-car driving, archery, seasonal crafts and interactive electronic winter sports competitions.
They also had indoor spa treatments and were surprised by a giant, inflatable snow globe to play inside.
The event ended with a penguin-themed outdoor challenge.
Event organiser Mel Price said: “We wanted the girls to have a unique experience and responded to their request for a winter camp.
“It’s been fantastic to see them come together from different units, make new friends and try activities they haven’t done before.”
