Responsible pet owners can get their cat or dog microchipped at an RSPCA stand in Oldham town centre on Saturday.
RSPCA staff will be outside the Yorkshire Building Society in Market Place from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Pet owners and pet lovers are being encouraged to visit the stand to find out more about the role of the RSPCA in Oldham.
Visitors will be able to have their cat or dog microchipped at a special reduced rate of £10.
RSPCA Branch Manager, Mandy Tierney said: “While we continue with the vital work we do in the Oldham area, we also recognise the need to become a lot more proactive in our approach and we want people to remember we have an animal centre in Oldham that houses all of our animals for adoption.
Educate
“Our aim is to educate and support pet owners in caring for their animals and to strengthen relationships with local people to help improve animal welfare.
“We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome a large number of animals every year and we also have a mobile veterinary clinic that is out and about in the Oldham area every two weeks.
“We also offer neutering of cats and dogs at a subsidised rate for those owners in receipt of benefits and we also offer advice and guidance on a wide range of animal welfare issues.”
