Pub aims to raise £4,000 in torch relay

THE Rose of Lancaster pub netted a massive £3,000 for charity with a raft of fundraising events.
Staff at the Chadderton pub threw themselves into raising money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice Pass the Torch appeal.
The events, from a race night and entertainment evening to a New Year’s Eve party, brought the cash rolling in.
Manager Anthony Walton is calling on customers to keep up the momentum to bring the total to £4,000 by spring.
The Pass the Torch relay has so far raised more than £5,000 for the hospice. It relies on a group or company receiving the torch in relay, staging a fundraising event and then passing on the torch to another group or firm to continue the relay.
Allegra Holbrook, community fundraiser for the hospice, is appealing for more groups to take part.
She said: “If your business, community group, or a group of friends would like to be part of this innovative fundraising project, please contact me.”
