Golden opportunity

A local charity could benefit by thousands of pounds by applying to the Woman of Oldham Committee.

The committee wants local charities and organisations to send in details about their work so that it can select a worthy cause to donate money raised at fundraising events during 2010.

The major event is the charity lunch at the White Hart Hotel, Lydgate, when the Woman of Oldham is named and presented with the Oldham Chronicle rosebowl.

Over the years the committee has raised more than £70,000 for local charities. Last year, £13,000 was raised and donated to the Victoria Breast Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Any local group with a project or equipment requirements that might benefit from additional funds can request an application form from Janet Larton, secretary of the Woman of Oldham Committee on 0161 652 8878.
