Violet suffered multiple internal injuries - police

A 15-MONTH-OLD girl from Waterhead, whose mother and boyfriend have been charged with her murder, suffered multiple internal injuries.
Violet Mullen, from Huddersfield Road, was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital on January 12 suffering from cardiac arrest, but died a short time later.
Police have now confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma.
A post-mortem examination revealed the little girl had suffered a list of injuries including to her stomach, liver, abdomen and pancreas.
Violet’s mother Claire Flanagan (22) and her boyfriend Gary Alcock (28), who is not the girl’s father, have been charged with her murder.
They were also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.
The pair appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Monday and were remanded in custody.
A further hearing will be held on April 16 where they will speak via videolink.
A trial due to last for up to six weeks has been scheduled for June 14.
