Teacher bullying claims are dismissed

PARENTS are being advised to ignore an anonymous poison-pen letter which is thought to be circulating in Royton.
It alleges that bullying claims made against a head teacher, a deputy head and a senior teacher were ignored by the General Teaching Council (GTC).
A spokesman for the council, the professional body for teaching in England, said similar letters had been sent in other areas across the country.
She added: “The GTC is aware of this anonymous letter being circulated. The information is unfounded.
“We have also been informed of similar malicious letters which have been sent to schools or communities in other areas.
“The author of similar previous letters is known to the council and has been formally asked to desist from this activity.”
