OUT IN FORCE... the student police officers have been operating under the guidance of training officer PC Lindsay Collins (left) and Inspector Dave Willcocks.
STUDENT police officers joined their colleagues on a hard-hitting burglary crackdown in Chadderton.
The officers were out and about with the Chadderton Neighbourhood Policing Team to encourage residents to help police bang up the burglars.
They patrolled Chadderton Precinct to offer crime prevention advice and give shoppers information on how to provide police with the vital information they need to bring criminals to justice.
The activity is part of Operation Storm, Greater Manchester Police’s blitz on burglars to bring down crime, increase the number of burglars convicted and reassure communities.
Inspector Dave Willcocks of the Chadderton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Burglars continue to be our number one target in Chadderton.
“We are taking the fight to the offenders by targeting them in their homes and disrupting and deterring criminal activity in communities blighted by this heartless crime.
“We also encourage the public to help us in this fight by providing us with information which can help us put these offenders behind bars.
“The addition of 30 student officers will increase our visibility on the street, reassuring the community.
“It’s also a great opportunity for the student officers to experience real policing and develop their skills and knowledge.”
Information which will help police to target burglars and build up evidence that will lead to convictions includes names, addresses and telephone numbers, as well as descriptions of the suspects such as height, build, colouring and clothing.
Details such as makes, models, colours and registration numbers of the vehicles used by suspects can also prove useful.
