Oldham Sixth Form College has three-star status after becoming the highest rated educational employer in the prestigious Best Companies Awards list.
The college surpassed last year’s “outstanding” two-star award to become one of only 50 companies nationally to achieve three-star “extraordinary” status.
A record 1,086 public and private organisations applied to achieve star status this year and 410 were successful. The list includes household names such as Beaverbrooks, Nandos and Office Angels.
Jonathan Austin, chief executive of Best Companies, said: “We would like to congratulate Oldham Sixth Form College on their outstanding achievement.
“Organisations like Oldham Sixth Form College that have kept on engaging their staff and making sure they are involved in the business will be in a good position for the future and should be congratulated for their efforts.”
Deputy college principal Jayne Clarke and personnel manager Linda Burrows will travel to London to receive the award in March.
Jayne said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that we have reached three-star status as this confirms our place among the very best employers in the country. It is recognition that the college is not only maintaining our outstanding record as an employer, but is continuing to improve and is now among the select few who can call themselves ‘extraordinary’.
“We work hard collectively as a staff and it means a great deal to us to know that the college is rated more highly than ever as an employer. We hope this award will further support us in continuing to attract the very best staff to our future vacancies.”
