Sharp reminder of record winter

The snow returned — and caused short-term traffic problems
An afternoon of snow showers covered Oldham again yesterday . . . just as streets, pavements and hills finally cleared after the December and January white-out.
Visibility was poor as these pictures taken on Ripponden Road show, and speed limits were down to 40mph on the M62 over the Pennines.
But after Oldham suffered the worst winter weather in 30 years, when temperatures plunged to a record minus 11.7C (11F) in January, yesterday’s afternoon temperature of 2.2 C (36F) was balmy by comparison.
Evening Chronicle weatherman Damian Rodgers said there was no more snow on the way — for a least another week.
