PARISH councillors have welcomed plans to provide leisure facilities for youngsters in Shaw.
Shaw and Crompton Parish Council planning committee recommended approving an application for the change of use of a bridal shop in Beal Lane to a leisure facility.
The idea is to provide a place for young teenagers to meet and play, with refreshments available.
Councillors were heartened by the scheme and gave it their full backing.
The facility will have one full-time employee and three part-time and will be open from 3.30pm to 9pm on weekdays, until 10.30pm on Fridays, noon to 10.30pm on Saturdays and noon to 9pm on Sundays.
A previous wedding shop at the building has closed twice in a year.
Brides and Grooms shut in September, 2008, after nearly 17 years of trading, but was later reopened as The Bridal Warehouse by a new owner.
Almost a year on it suffered the same fate and has been empty since.
