Hibbert attacks huge overspend

Councillor calls for explanation
A LABOUR councillor has slammed “a massive crater of overspending” by the leading Liberal Democrat party.
Councillor Dave Hibbert, Labour’s only Cabinet member, has demanded an explanation of Lib Dem finances, which he claims include a missed income of £250,000 from car parking charges, massive overspends and the loss of financial control of departmental budgets.
He said: “Are they incompetent, inexperienced or naive? The total of the funding corrections and the overspends comes to £1.5m.
“Shaw Road, Lees Road and other various Highway Schemes have all turned out to be significantly wrong.
“Most, if not all, of these errors have occurred in the Environmental Services for which councillor Mark Alcock is responsible.”
He said councillor Alcock should explain or resign.
